Even though he played against some of the best players, DuBose was not a highly rated recruit. He had no offers before his senior year. Ten days before signing, he got his only offer from Division II Miles College. He accepted it and started his football journey.
College career
As a freshman at Miles, DuBose played in ten games as a backup. He earned 104 receiving yards and scored one touchdown. During the canceled 2020 season, he worked part-time at a grocery store and Walmart to support himself. Later, he decided to transfer schools. His childhood friend, James Foster, a backup quarterback at Charlotte, encouraged him to attend a summer tryout.
DuBose joined the Charlotte team and had a breakout start. In his first game against Duke, he racked up 118 yards and two touchdowns.
